Triumph Over Life’s
Sordid Defilements
John 4:1-42
By: Rev. Dr. Cullian W.

As I come to us on this
Wednesday night, July
29, 2020, it grieves me
that I must face the
facts of America’s
lifestyle. It is true
that America’s lifestyle
is sordid and defiled.
The Word of God in
John 8:32 “And
ye shall know the truth,
and the truth shall make
you free.” So tonight I
must present the truth
to us about the
sordidness of America.
America’s sordidness has
reached the highest
office and highest
position in America. The
person that holds that
position, Donald Trump,
President of America,
has lived a sordid life
of defilements and his
corrupt lifestyle has
infected most of the
individuals around him.
His cognitive skills are
so corrupt that he
believes that drinking
unsafe products will
cure COVID-19. The
President told America
how corrupt he was and
America put him in the
White House knowing he
was defiled. Wake up
America! President Trump
is a modern Jim Jones,
encouraging people to
drink unsafe products.
Tonight this text deals
with an immoral woman
but the problem is the
same. In this text,
Jesus said “He must go
through Samaria.” There
was a major need for
Jesus to detour and go
that way. “Must needs
go” (John
4:4) Jesus was
wearily from His journey
and came to Jacob’s well
and was not only
resting; but also needed
a drink of water. As He
seated Himself there on
the well at the sixth
hour of the day, “High
Noon”, a Samaritan woman
came also to get water.
What was she like? She
was a woman of sordid
defilements, very
immoral. Her marital and
extra-marital
relationships would seem
to indicate that she was
not overburdened by
moral scruples. Her
lifestyle, no doubt, had
provided plenty of
material for the town
gossips. But now she is
at the well of Jacob and
as soon as she arrives,
Jesus started a
conversation with her
about water. He said to
her, “Give me to drink.”
He, the creator of the
Nile and the
Mississippi, the One who
filled the Great Lakes
and designed Niagara
Falls, He was thirsty.
If He so desired, He
could have caused the
deep, unseen spring that
fed the well to have
filled the well to the
top. A short while ago
He had turned water to
wine, in the wilderness
brought water from a
rock. Jesus was dealing
with Spiritual Water,
water that is good for
the soul. “Living
water.” Jesus was saying
to her, you want this
water of life? First, I
must deal with your
sordid defilement. Your
husband; I have no
husband. Thou has well
said, I have no husband,
in that sadist thou
truly. Five husbands in
a row during her life.
We are not told how or
why these marriages were
dissolved, whether by
death or divorce. But
look at the love for
her! “Love covers a
multitude of sins”
(I Peter 4:8).
The Lord lifted her
thoughts to a living,
loving Father, that was
concerned about her
soul. She accepted the
living water that sprung
up in her life unto
everlasting life never
to thirst again. She
went back to town, left
her water pots, found
the men that indulged in
her sordid lifestyle and
brought them to see a
man that is able to save
from the guttermost to
the uppermost. America,
the living water is
available. It will cause
this country to see the
need to clean up our
lifestyles and get back
to God’s way of living.
No longer can America
afford to have a corrupt
leader that encourages
individuals to drink
poisoning. No longer can
America afford to have a
top cop in country that
does not believe in the
rule of law.
America, we can
triumph over these
defilements and sordid
lifestyles. We need to
get in a hurry and round
up enough individuals
that see the chief
problems in our
government, homes, and
churches. We have an
urgent call to action.
Come; See a man, which
told me all things that
I ever did: Is not this
the Christ? Her
testimonia was
successful. Then they
went out of the city and
came unto Him (John
4:30). We must
come back to God. The
hour is come and now is!
It’s up to us!
