As we move on from
Father’s Day
celebrations, our
world needs some
praying men. James
5:16c says; “The
effectual fervent
prayer of a
righteous man
availeth much.”
James gives helpful
instructions
regarding prayer,
which should
encourage believers
to do more praying.
James ask a
question; Is any
among you afflicted?
Let him pray. Prayer
is for pain. When
trouble comes, don’t
go to pieces, go to
prayer. If we would
pray in times of
trouble, rather than
grumble and
complain, we would
see an end to our
troubles more
quickly. Prayer is a
powerful friend!
Many things fail us
in difficult times
but not prayer. Is
any sick among you?
Let him call for the
elders of the
church; and let them
pray over you. The
sick must “send” for
you (James 5:14),
send for the pastor.
The prayer of faith
shall save the sick,
and the Lord shall
raise him up (James
5:15). Let us pray
for one another,
that ye may be
healed (James 5:16).
There was a sin
problem. After
dealing with the sin
problem, then prayer
can be made for
healing.
When James looked at
the productive
prayer (James 5:16),
he said, “The
effectual fervent
prayer of a
righteous man
availeth much.”
“Effectual fervent.”
Prayer means to ask
someone a specific
request. If you want
specific blessings,
you will have to
pray specifically.
We must be specific
if we want success
in our prayer life.
Let us look at the
righteous man James
uses: Elijah was a
man of passion. He
meant business when
he prayed. He prayed
ardently and he
prayed earnestly
(James 5:17).
Elijah’s prayers
were productive.
First, it affected
the rain. Second, it
effected revival. We
need righteous men
and women to pray.
