WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE LESSON

Fruit Bearers
John 15:1-8
Fellowship with Jesus and Devotion to Him

By: Dr. Cullian W. Hill

In order to have a good relationship with Jesus, one must meditate day and night in His Word and pray constantly to Him. In other words, stay connected to Him. He is the true vine and we are the branches. The branches must stay connected to the vine in order to stay healthy. The branches get their strength from the vine because they are rooted in the ground; because the vine has what is needed.

Abiding in Christ is the key to bringing forth fruit.( Galatians 5:22-23) Some of this fruit involved love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and self-control. Hebrews 12:11 speaks of the fruit of righteousness, which is good behavior. John 15:5 says, if you abide in Him you will bring forth much fruit. When the redeemed do not abide or fellowship with Christ through the Word and prayer, they will lose their power and ability to live an exemplary Christian life. When I observe the productivity from the abiding (John 15:2-3) there is some pruning and purging. The Word of God cleans and purges. Fruit bearers must be pruned and purged in order to bear fruit. They keep us on the right path. The Word is for correction, instruction in righteousness and helps us to abide in Christ. But when you abideth in Him and His Word in you; you can ask and what you are asking will be done; 15:7. It’s God’s desire that you bring forth much fruit; 15:8. So stay connected to Jesus. God can get some glory!

Samson became disconnected from God and some time later, when he really needed God he wist not that the Lord had departed from him. The children of Israel went away from God and they did evil in the sight of the Lord. They went into slavery. Most of America is disconnected from God. Yes, from the White House to the Senate, crime prevails. Look at our justice system; it’s corrupt from top to bottom. America has no rule of law anymore. The President of America, Donald J. Trump, inciting riots and promoting racism. America has moved away from the True Vine, which is Jesus Christ. No wonder she is drying up and withering away. O America, reconnect to Jesus! He is the True Vine and we are the branches. So, seek the Lord while He may be found, call on Him while He is near. (Isaiah 55:6) Stay connected!
