The Goodness of God

Lamentations 3:22-26

If we had not experienced the goodness of God, most of us would be miserable this morning. Going through life, you're going to experience some trials and tribulations, some ups and downs. With time, you will not be able to run 50 yards, you'll feel, as the old folks can say, tolerably well. Something may be coming up the road, that with the help of God, you'll be able to handle, if you start preparing for it.

At the time Jeremiah was preaching, sin had overtaken Jerusalem. Sin has overtaken America. It is prevalent. Jeremiah proclaimed the word of God and cried out to a nation that had walked away from God. God had delivered them from 400 years of slavery, helped them to cross the Red Sea, kept them through 40 years of wilderness. God kept them.

What we are experiencing in the world is because of sin. Crime, crooks, criminals and confusion are all because of sin. Wherever one looks, what we are experiencing is because of sin. In America, we have "In God we trust" on our money, and in my humble opinion, we need to take it off. The standards God wants us to instill in our lives have been forgotten about, pushed to the side. Proverbs 14:34 tells us, "Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people." Judges 17:6 tells us, "but every man did that which was right in his own eyes."

Thank God for His mercies! Every morning, new mercies! Great is thy faithfulness. Wait on the Lord.

Isaiah 40:31  But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
