The Church at Corinth

Acts 18: 1-6

The Church has always had to fight. Ever since Matthew 16:15-18, there has been the

question: "Whom do men say that I, the Son of Man am?" (He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.)

Saul, of the New Testament was making havoc in the church. He was capturing individuals,

bringing them back to the colosseum, feeding them to the lions, if they were proclaiming Jesus.

Saul had an experience with Jesus and his life changed, as did his name from Saul to Paul.

Until you have seen Jesus and accepted Him as your personal Savior, not much is happening in your life. You can move on in life after proclaiming Jesus as your personal savior.

In the 17th chapter of Acts, Paul stands on Mars Hill and tells the church in Athens of their

superstitions and ignorance in worshipping. After proclaiming Christ Jesus is risen from the

dead, Paul left them behind and departed unto Corinth. When Paul was in Athens he did not

proclaim the gospel, trying to impress the educated people; but Paul felt that if the Lord would let him get to Corinth he could preach the gospel.

Paul was able to preach Christ Jesus, the crucifixion and the resurrection. Almost is not good

enough. We must proclaim the gospel and testify that we are Christians, not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
