PERILS OF PLENTY

Joshua 24;      Luke 12: 15-21

Why does material success remove individuals from worshipping and serving God?

Joshua called the people together to present themselves before God and remind them where God had brought them form. God has brought us today, black folks, a mighty long way: from slavery into cities we didn't build and in schools not meant for us to attend.

"Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord," "choose you this day whom ye will serve: whether the gods which you fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites', in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the lord."

God, has brought us every step of the way:  They didn't intend for us to conquer cities, become mayors of cities but God will provide for those who remain on His side.  We have become insensitive to our glorious history, but we have a marvelous history, Trust in the Lord.

Moses told Israel if they stayed with God, they would have a growing spirit. Don't let your attitude toward God shift just because you have experience a little success, Remain as little children, obedient unto God.  Faith and fortitude of Israel weathered their habits in the wilderness.  They called on God, God sustained them, We have to keep a sense of history to keep out faith in God.

Don't let you material blessings mess up your mind!
